Winter is coming, is your manufacturing company protected?

snowy road manufacturingCalling all manufacturing companies, winter is coming so how can you protect your business this winter?

Forecasters are predicting a heavy snowfall this winter and are certain that the UK will enjoy a white Christmas, which could last for weeks.  A trail of freezing air is set to move into Britain from Siberia and the North Pole as of mid-November, which will be driven by a strong storm and arctic conditions.

With this in mind, this month JRW Risk Solutions are continuing to look at how manufacturing businesses should prepare for the winter season and subsequent extreme weather circumstances which could affect their business on a number of levels.

The conditions of a commercial building both inside and out, the wellbeing of staff and the operation of equipment could all be affected if the weather proves too challenging and / or if safety and responsibility is lapsed.  Burst pipes, heating system maintenance and deterioration of rooves are just some of the challenges that poor winter conditions can bring to buildings, whilst within the workplace, slippy floors, freezing temperatures and damage to stock can be challenging to manage by company directors.

How manufacturing companies can plan ahead

By assessing the situation prior to the change in weather conditions and implementing the right processes and protection will ensure that their manufacturing business stays safe this winter to ensure that health & safety audits are met, and preventative measures are in place.
